Made from Cleveland Golf's own CMM metal, the Cleveland CG4 irons
have 17 times more carbon than traditional steel for greater vibration
absorption and is also 10% less dense which allows for 25 grams of
weight to be redistributed to areas of greater benefit. These two
features work together to create a golf club that will give you a ball
hitting experience you've simply got to feel to believe.
The extraordinary benefits gained by using the CMM metal are compounded
by the club's design. CG4 irons feature a cavity back, which gives them
a larger sweet spot for added forgiveness on off-center hits. These
irons also come standard with Cleveland Golf's patented V.A.S.
technology to help further reduce unwanted feedback.
CG4 >> THE METAL:
Cleveland's goal was to find or create a material that would damp
vibration in an unprecedented fashion and could be readily manipulated
and engineered for performance. In fall of 2002 they created the first
wedges made from light density steel. Since then they have added Black
Pearl wedges as well as the CG1, CG2 and the new CG4 irons to Cleveland
Golf's line of CMM brand clubs.
This new metal, while not a composite, is infused with 17 times more
carbon than traditional 8620 and 1020 steels. Using a process unique to
CMM material, microscopic carbon spheres are infused within the
molecular structure of the metal. This creates a matrix that is 10% less
dense than ordinary steel yet it maintains the hardness and manipulation
properties of cast or forged carbon steel. These density relieving
spheres within the CMM metal also dramatically damp vibration offering a
pure, soft feel never before achieved in any golf club. Needless to say,
Cleveland Golf has a patent pending for clubheads made of this
breakthrough material. Microscopic Carbon spheres reduce density by 10%
and dramatically increase material damping. |
